Mangrove Conservation Experience Programme

Overview

Participate in planting mangroves in the wild! Our planting site at Sulaman Lake Forest Reserve, Tuaran, located approximately 1 hour from Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site. Experience and learn about the importance of conserving natural habitats of the wetlands. Discover and discuss the challenges of mangroves living things face.

This activities are absolutely is not for the little ones, but no worries we provide a few activities that are suitable and will keep them engaged throughout the programme. Here's what they can do to contribute in this programme:-

Collecting mangrove seed on the boardwalk and gravel paths area.

While walking don't forget to look on the boardwalk and on the ground of the gravel path, search for the mangrove seeds and collect them!

Planting mangrove seeds in a polybag

A simple hands-on activity yet a fun way to understand the needs of a mangrove to germinate. Enjoy the process of mangrove seedling planting by exploring our mangroves nursery. 

How to be prepared?

Bring some towel or handkerchief for the sweats

Bring enough drinking water or snacks

Bring umbrella or raincoat in case of raining

Wear cap for the hot weather

It is advisable to wear insect repellent and sun screen

Wear sport shoes or wellies
